Effects of culture medium recycling in the chemical composition of Spirulina platensis biomass cultivated in semi-continuous mode

چکیده

Commercial microalgae cultivations use the semi-continuous mode, but there are no reports of using this cultivation mode to produce carbohydrate-rich biomass. It was evaluated biomass productivity and intracellular carbohydrates by Spirulina platensis in cultivation. Besides, reuse culture media after blend accomplished order obtain nutrient-depleted cultures. In first stage (Step 1), performed closed Erlenmeyer’s flasks, it verified that concentration renewal rate did not influence carbohydrates. However, interaction variables influenced cell yields, being best results obtained with 0.5 g/L 60%, respectively. Step 2, realized 10 L open mini raceways, cultures remained viable up 3 cycles obtaining mean carbohydrate contents 41.7% (w/w) yield 69.3 mg/L d Zarrouk 30% 70% rate. These values were higher than those observed experiments bioreactors. Therefore, demonstrated is for bioethanol production, which represents a possibility reusing nutrients from medium itself purpose.

OPTIMIZATION OF BIOMASS PRODUCTION OF Spirulina platensis IN SEAWATER MEDIUM

Spirulina platensis is one of the most potential sources of natural nutrition. The present study was aimed to optimize the parameters like nitrogen sources, pH, temperature and light intensity for increasing the production of Spirulina platensis biomass (dry weight), protein, lipid and chlorophyll-a in seawater medium. The production of Spirulina platensis was optimized in terms of biomass and ...

A method to estimate the biomass of Spirulina platensis cultivated on a solid medium

This paper presents a method to estimate the biomass of Spirulina cultivated on solid medium with sugarcane bagasse as a support, in view of the difficulty in determining biomass concentrations in bioprocesses, particularly those conducted in semi-solid or solid media. The genus Spirulina of the family Oscillatoriaceae comprises the group of multicellular filamentous cyanobacteria (blue-green m...

the effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends

flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...
